070100 Mathematics (first level discipline)
The first level doctoral degree program in mathematics includes six research directions: basic mathematics, applied mathematics, computational mathematics, probability theory and mathematical statistics, mathematical theory of artificial intelligence, statistics and quantitative economy. Basic Mathematics is master-degree-granting since 2001. Relying on the key disciplines of Zhejiang Province and Ningbo City, it has set up a basic mathematics research institute; Applied Mathematics is master-degree-granting since 2006. Relying on the key disciplines of Zhejiang Province and Ningbo City, it has set up Applied Mathematics Research Institute and Nonlinear Science Research Center. In 2018, the mathematics discipline was awarded the first level doctoral program by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. Mathematics is a key discipline in Zhejiang Province and a first-class discipline in Ningbo City. Mathematics and applied mathematics is a dominant major in Zhejiang Province during the 13th Five-Year Plan period and a key discipline in Ningbo City.
There are 68 full-time teachers of this discipline, including 1 winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, 2 winners of the State Council’s special allowance experts, 2 winners of the Ministry of Education’s new century outstanding talents, 1 national outstanding talent, 1 winner of the Ministry of Education's Outstanding Young Teacher Funding Program, 1 Zhejiang Provincial Special Expert, 3 winners of Zhejiang Outstanding Youth Fund, 3 Zhejiang 151 talents, 1 excellent young teacher in provincial universities and colleges, 3 young and middle-aged disciplinary leaders in provincial universities and colleges, and 1 excellent mathematics teacher in provincial universities and colleges.
In recent years, stable research directions have been developed into such branches as basic mathematics, applied mathematics, computational mathematics, probability theory and mathematical statistics, especially in mathematical physics, fractal geometry, differential geometry, number theory, combinatorial mathematics, nonlinear partial differential equations, stochastic differential equations, nonlinear waves, geometric measure theory, computational fluid, algebra and cryptography, and has completed a number of high-level researches published in JMS, Math Annalen, Adv.
